Waterbury Chorale & Orchestra at St. Rose of Lima, Newtown The 85 member Waterbury Chorale & Orchestra under the direction of Waterbury AGO member Joseph Jacovino, will present a very moving concert commemorating the 9th Anniversary of 9-11. The program will feature a major choral work by esteemed composer Karl Jenkins, entitled "THE ARMED MAN - A MASS FOR PEACE". This composition deals with the centuries-old consequences of man's propensity to "wage war" against his fellow man. This theme is masterfully set within the framework of the Christian Mass setting - celebrating "peace". The work has been performed at Carnegie Hall, and is very powerful, musically, and textually. Also on the program will be "Hymn to the Fallen" by John Williams, "Ubi Caritas", by Paul Halley, and the timeless round, "Dona Nobis Pacem". This concert is a perfect way to reflect upon the horrific events of 9-11-01, as well as a opportunity to focus on our hopes and prayers for world peace. St Rose of Lima RC Church is located at 46 Church Hill Rd, Newtown. Tickets: $20 in advance/$25 at the door. For tickets call: 203-755-2561 or 860-283-6083.

Annual Waterbury AGO Advent Hymn Festival at St. John's, Waterbury Last year we had the first "Advent Hymn Festival" for Waterbury AGO Members and their choirs featuring the great hymns of Advent and organ voluntaries on the McManis organ at St. John's Episcopal Church on the Green in downtown Waterbury. It was a rousing success with over 100 people in attendance! We plan to do it again this year, and expect the schedule will be the same with a rehearsal at 2 PM, and the Festival beginning at 4 PM. SAVE THE DATE and watch for more information in the coming weeks.
